You don't have to go far to get away. Colorado's newest state park is nestled in the landscape that inspired the song, "America the Beautiful." Enter this park and marvel at the mountains above and the Colorado Springs skyline below.
Meander or picnic amidst nature's diversity with prairie-to-peak eco-systems and 20 miles of hiking and biking trails. Stop by the visitor center for information, a little shopping, educational exhibits or just to relax by the stone fireplace and the wall of windows. We have an amazing 1600 acres of natural trails and scenic picnic sites. Years of thoughtful planning will unfold as this park opens in stages--over the next several years. Visitors can enjoy recreational opportunities open now; environmental education, trail exploration and picnicking. Campsites are open on a limited basis and group picnic area will open in Spring 2009. We are accepting reservations for the Group Picnic Area for the 2009 season. Reservation forms may be picked up at the park Visitor Center or you can request a form via email at the park email address.

Installation Overview: Located near Pike's Peak, southwest of Colorado Springs, Chyenne Mountain air Force Station is home to the North American Aerospace Defense Command, United States Northern Command, United States Strategic Command and Air Force Space Command. It serves as the command center for both NORAD and USNORTHCOM. It is the central collection and coordination center for a worldwide system of satellites, radars and sensors that provide early warning of any missiles, air or space threat to North America.
