Starting in the 1990s this was the fastest growing area of Colorado Springs. Mostly south of Woodmen Road and east of Powers. New multiple shopping centers and movie theaters with 16 screens on the very popular “Powers Corridor.” A mix of entry level and move up homes; one of the busiest areas for home sales each year. Powers is a bustling and thriving community that offers scenic views of mountains in the distance. Situated just north of Peterson Air Force Base the community was name of the Powers Family which originally owned vast acreage east of the city. A brand new 156 bed hospital (St Francis Medical Center) opened summer of 2008 and has brought many healthcare professionals to be close to their place of work. Within the Powers area are Sky sox Baseball Stadium and two 18 hole golf courses. Prices vary but currently range from $150s to $450s Since this is a relatively new subdivision trees are still young and this is not an area with tall mature trees. |
