Manitou Springs attracts tourists year round. A fantastic town and thriving art community. Indian tribes found Manitou to be a healing spot for Indian tribes that originally settled here. The nearby Garden of the Gods has rock formations reaching toward the sky, filling the scenery. Manitou Springs at 6,000 foot altitude is at the base of Pikes Peak, the home of the Cog Railway. The cog rail train that slowly and gently climbs to the crest of the peak. Competition abounds when the annual Pikes Peak Hill Climb “Race to the Clouds” 2nd oldest motor sports race in America started in 1916. In 2009 the race will take place on Sunday, July 19th.
